Isn't cotton kind of strange? The bolls look like they could be fruits... but then they burst open, and its certainly not anything you would want to eat!

And we have cotton!
I did it! I grew cotton!
Its Mississippi Brown cotton, which is a pre-Civil War era heirloom cotton. The plants are supposed to be 2 - 3 feet tall, but I grew mine in a 5-gallon bucket so it's only about 18 inches or so tall. It has two more bolls forming and one new flower bud. I also have an Upland (white) Cotton plant in another 5-gallon bucket, but its growing much bigger. No bolls on the Upland yet though.
